Be safe. Be smart.

We would like very much to offer a warm invitation to anyone looking for a school place for their child to come and see us.
I am very proud of this small village school, with delightful children, supportive parents, a strong governing body and a dedicated team of teachers and support staff.
We are committed as a staff to offering the very best provision we can for our children. We always seek to know our children well, in terms of the current academic attainment, their potential and their social strengths. We start from the premise that if you do not know the whole child then you cannot teach them to attain at the highest level or to be happy and enthusiastic in their work and play. We therefore take time to listen to our pupils, to assess them thoroughly and through speaking to their parents/carers get to know them as individuals. From there we offer them teaching in small groups planned to focus upon their needs. We are committed to ensuring that the school meets the needs of each child rather than expecting the child to always fit in with the structure.
Our school has had a difficult year, but we are coming out of it and progressing well. We believe that there are many aspects of our school that are good, and some outstanding features will emerge as this year progresses.
Finally, we are a happy school. Our pupils come in through the front gate as children happy to be in our school, and enter the school building happy to become learners.
At Byfield School a wheelchair is provided upon request, as the school comprises
of three buildings. There is a ramp to the rear of the main building and the hall.
The infant block is on the same level as the playground.
