Head Teacher's Welcome

Welcome to the Byfield School Website. I hope that our website gives you the information that you are looking for. You are very welcome to telephone or email me if you have any questions or if you would like to come and look round the school.

At Byfield School all members of staff exercise a great deal of care and commitment towards each individual child. The teachers are supported by experienced and well - qualified learning support assistants. We are very aware of the ability of each child and the children are given individual targets for their future progress. These targets are shared with the children and parents. Class teachers meet the parents regularly in order to discuss their child's progress and there is an annual written report.

Set in the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside and on the edge of the Cotswolds, our Edwardian school is built of stone. The Key Stage Two children are taught in the main building and the infants are together in the newer building. There is also a nursery on site so that transition into school is smooth.

Byfield School is essentially a community school. There is a high degree of cooperation and support from various stakeholders within the village and beyond. There are strong links between Byfield School , Byfield Nursery School , Holy Cross Church , Byfield Parish Council, Byfield Village Hall Committee, The Byfield Branch of the Royal British Legion, The Local Education Authority, The Area Environmental Education Officer and many other groups and individuals.

Our children move on to a range of secondary schools when they leave us. We have excellent transition arrangements in place for our year six children with Danetre, Southam and Chenderit secondary schools. Buses run from the village to each of these schools daily. Of course these are not the only options and we aim to provide as much support as possible as our children progress with their education.

I hope you enjoy browsing our website.
