Topic Based Curriculum
For the rest of the curriculum we use a topic based approach based on the Prospectus Curriculum, which we have adapted so that it meets our school vision and the needs of our children. Our connected curriculum is structured into half termly themed Learning Units for each year. It covers Foundation subjects and is fully mapped to cover the National Curriculum requirements. National Curriculum Science units are linked in to the themes. We believe using these themes increases pupil's enjoyment, knowledge and understanding and develops a lifelong love of learning.

Teaching of Religious Education
Byfield School is a community school, it was the first school in Northamptonshire to be established by residents of the village rather than a church organisation, to serve the children of the community. We still see Religious Education as an important aspect of our curriculum. It gives opportunity to chance to learn about a range of religions, develop awareness of children's own beliefs, values and commitments and to share experiences.
Byfield School follows the Northamptonshire RE agreed syllabus. This has the aim of teaching children about a range of religions, as well as developing thier own beliefs in order to become responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society. Children have a weekly RE lesson which covers all major religions. We invite a range of different religious into assemblies and lessons.
